Birds & Bows Experience

This is a complete experience for someone who wishes to combine two ancient sports -

Falconry & Archery. 

The morning begins with a short safety briefing over a hot drink then it is onto the range to let loose some arrows over various distances. A variety of target faces are used to test your skills & can include standard targets, dartboards & even prints of quarry such as deer, hare, fox & pheasant. 

Using traditional longbows & composite recurve bows, this experience is designed for fun & insight, with some added competition, should related groups wish to book. We do not use compound bows, which have all the fancy gadgets & gears to assist you.

This experience is a test of your raw ability to do something which back in Medieval times, was the way many civilisations protected themselves & until the invention of the crossbow & firearm, was the main weapon of choice that England used.

It was even law to practice with your longbow on Sundays to be ready for combat,

should you be called upon!

 (NOTE: Live quarry is NOT used & it is illegal to hunt with a bow in UK)

After a short break, the afternoon then begins with an introduction to the world of falconry. A selection of birds are handled, then singularly (or as a group) you will have the opportunity to fly a trained hawk & marvel how she flies back &

forth from tree to glove eating small morsels of raw meat.

This is a complete experience. A walk back into days gone by where a bird & bow were part of most peoples lives in Britain. A fun packed day which will remind all of how Britain became Great Britain with the use of these weapons & creatures by our sides, but which were also used to feed your family in the harshest of times gone by.
